How Much Does a Hostel in Tbilisi Cost in 2026? Real Prices From an Owner

Price pages on booking platforms bury what things actually cost under fees and flash sales. We own a hostel in Tbilisi, so here are the real numbers as of July 2026 — including our own, and including what we think you should pay elsewhere.

What a Dorm Bed Costs in Tbilisi

Across the city, dorm beds run from roughly 20 GEL in bare-bones party hostels to 50+ GEL in the trendiest design hostels around Fabrika. Our dorms at Elia are 36–42 GEL a night depending on room size, with female-only options at both ends of that range. Why not 20? Because our beds have privacy curtains, individual lights and sockets, the building is a historic Georgian house full of antiques rather than a converted office, and we cap the atmosphere at 'sociable', not 'nightclub'. You get what you pay for in Tbilisi remarkably literally.

Private Rooms and Apartments

A private hostel room in the center typically costs 100–180 GEL. Our deluxe double/twin with its own lounge area is 140 GEL. If you are a family or group, apartments become the best value in the city — our three-bedroom apartment sleeps a whole crew for 420 GEL, which beats booking three separate rooms almost anywhere central.

What's Included (and the Hidden Costs to Ask About)

In Georgia, linen is almost always included — walk away from anywhere charging extra for sheets. At Elia, WiFi, linen, hot showers and kitchen access are all in the price. Things worth checking anywhere you book: whether towels are included or rented, whether air conditioning costs extra in summer (ours doesn't), and whether the 'from' price online is for a 16-bed basement room. Georgia has no city tourist tax, so the price you see should be the price you pay — and if you book direct with us it is 10% lower than on the platforms, because we are not paying their commission.

A Realistic Daily Budget

A comfortable backpacker day in Tbilisi looks like: dorm bed ~40 GEL, khinkali or khachapuri lunch 10–15 GEL, a proper restaurant dinner with wine 30–40 GEL, metro rides ~1 GEL each, and the sulfur baths from ~10 GEL for a public pool. Call it 80–100 GEL (about $30–37) a day living well, and less if you cook in the hostel kitchen.

When Prices Spike

June through September is high season; the best-rated places (ours included) fill up first and dorm prices citywide creep up 20–30%. New Year is a second, shorter spike. Come in shoulder season — May or October — and you get spring or golden-autumn Tbilisi with better availability and gentler prices.
